Jesters
The Trinity Jesters are a student run drama performance group who put on productions for the school. Originally based out of Alumni Hall, the group moved to the Austin Arts Center following the fire that destroyed the Hall in 1967.
The Jesters formed in 1887, with the goal of putting on two plays a year. In their early years, male students played both male and female roles, female performers not featured regularly until the early 20th century. The group has found varying levels of success and participation, but has come together to put on notable performances for Trinity and its surrounding community. This includes in 1944, when the group reformed to put on a play for the injured soldiers staying at Bradley Field, and the production of several performances for local high school and prep school students in the 1950's and 60's. This decade saw large audiences and great reception for the group as they received critical reviews for their Shakespeare plays, comedies, melodramas, and student written works.
