Berkeley Divinity School

Berkeley Divinity School is an Episcopal Church seminary located at Yale University. Founded in 1854 by Bishop John Williams of Connecticut, it is the only Episcopal seminary to be affiliated with a major research institution.
Previous to Berkeley's founding, John Williams was named president of Trinity College in 1848. Wanting to strengthen the ties between Trinity and the Episcopal Church, Williams was intent on offering courses in theological education, as he had done in the past with students from Union College. Some of these students followed Williams to Trinity, where he continued to informally instruct them in
