It contains eight tennis courts and a raised area for spectators, all surrounded by large lights. The center was named after Paul D. Assaiante, coach of the men's [[athletics|squash]] and men's tennis teams at Trinity and associate professor of physical education, for his commitment as a longtime coach and friend of the College. The United States Tennis Association helped in designing the courts; the construction and maintenance of the center cost over $1 million, and donors to the project included Trinity alumni, the United States Tennis Association, and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The courts were built not only to provide high-quality facilities for Trinity's tennis teams, but also function as a space for the [[hartford|Hartford]] community to utilize. For example, tennis programming was planned with children from the [[learning_corridor_initiative|Learning Corridor]] School. ---- ===== Sources ===== [[https://bantamsports.com/facilities/paul-assaiante-tennis-center/8| Paul Assaiante Tennis Center]] [[https://digitalrepository.trincoll.edu/reporter/419/| The Trinity Reporter]], Winter 2011. ---- [<>]
